Copying flight plan files to iFMS - iPhone/iPad

Apart from having the ability to load and save your flight plans created in iFMS to your device locally, it is also possible to create flight plan files on your computer and transfer them to iFMS through iTunes. An example flight plan file can be downloaded from our downloads section. The installation of a flight plan file is similar to installing new navdata or a new aircraft file as explained in the previous section.

On a Mac, you can use Finder to install the new flightplan file. Just connect your device to your Mac, open finder and click on your device. Under the "Files" tab you should see iFMS listed, you can drag & drop the new file onto the iFMS entry. It will be copied to the iFMS shared files folder.

On a Windows computer you can use iTunes to copy the new flightplan file. With the device connected to your computer, open iTunes and click on the little iPad/iPhone icon on the top of the screen. After this you click on "File Sharing" on the left of the screen, you will then see the apps that have file sharing enabled on the right side of the screen. iFMS should be listed. Click on the iFMS icon and a list with "iFMS Documents" will appear, drag & drop the new file here.

Once you have copied the new file using either method above, launch iFMS on your device (make sure you have properly shut down the app first). On startup iFMS will install the new file and remove it from the shared documents. Done.
